Four Steps, Start to Finish
Hiring a skip should not be complicated. Here is exactly how it runs, from the first phone call to the lorry taking it away.
Pick a Skip Size
Eight sizes cover almost every job, from a boot-load of garden cuttings to a full house strip. If the work is bigger than a 16 yard, we run roll-on roll-off as well.
Will It Actually Fit?
The question we get asked most. Measure the space before you book, and remember the lorry needs room to swing the skip off and back on again. Dimensions below are approximate and vary slightly between skips.
| Skip Size | Capacity(Cubic Yards) | Length (L)(ft) | Width (W)(ft) | Height (H)(ft) | Typical Use |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2 Yard Mini Skip | 2 | 4' | 3' | 3' | Small clear outs, light waste |
| 4 Yard Midi Skip | 4 | 5' | 3'6" | 3'6" | DIY projects, garden waste |
| 6 Yard Skip | 6 | 6' | 4' | 3'6" | Renovations, bulky waste |
| 8 Yard Skip | 8 | 6'6" | 4'6" | 4' | Medium renovation projects |
| 10 Yard Skip | 10 | 7' | 5' | 4' | Building projects, large waste |
| 12 Yard Skip | 12 | 8' | 5' | 5' | Heavy waste, construction |
| 14 Yard Skip | 14 | 8'6" | 5'6" | 5'6" | Commercial & industrial use |
| 16 Yard Skip | 16 | 9' | 6' | 5'6" | Large scale construction |
What a Skip Costs
We quote per job rather than publishing a single rate, because the same size skip costs different amounts depending on what goes in it and where it stands. Ring us with the details and you get a real number, not a starting-from figure.
- Delivery and collection are both in the price
- No deposit to pay before delivery
- Nothing added afterwards unless you change the job
- Trade and repeat customers get account rates
Four things move the price
Heavy waste like soil and rubble weighs far more than it looks. Tell us and we will steer you to the right size.
What Goes In, and What Cannot
Most of what comes out of a house, garden or building job is fine. The banned items are the ones that cause problems at the sorting facility or are hazardous, and they all have their own disposal route.

Keep these out
Not sure about something in particular? Ring us before you load it. It is a quicker conversation than an uplift charge. Full detail on the what can go in a skip page.
Households and Trade, Same Rounds
We are not a trade-only yard or a domestic-only outfit. The same lorries serve both, which is why a homeowner can get a skip on a day's notice.
For your home
Loft and garage clear outs, garden clearances, moving out, or a full house clearance after a probate sale.

For your site or business
Fit-outs, shop refurbs, builders skips on the drive, and roll-on roll-off where the volume justifies it.

- Duty of care paperwork on request

Questions We Get Asked
Do I need a permit for a skip in Doncaster?
Only if it is going on a public road, pavement or verge. On your own driveway or private land, no permit is needed at all. Where one is required it comes from Doncaster Council and the application is made by you, the customer. We will tell you what you need, and the fee and processing time are both set by the council rather than by us, so we will confirm the current position when you book. See the skip permits page for the detail.
How long can I keep it?
As long as the job takes, within reason. Tell us roughly how long you want it when you book and we will agree a collection date. If the work runs over, ring us and we will move the collection rather than charge you for a fixed period you did not use.
How full can I fill it?
Level with the top rail, no higher. An overloaded skip cannot legally be sheeted and carried on the road, so if it is heaped we will have to ask you to take the excess off before we can lift it. Load the heavy material flat on the bottom and it usually fits better than you expect. There is more on this in our guide to avoiding an overfilled skip.
Which size do I actually need?
The honest answer is that it depends on the waste more than the room. A 6 yard is the usual pick for rubble because weight runs out before space does. An 8 yard suits a kitchen or bathroom strip. Ten and above are for volume rather than weight. Describe the job on 01302 490 249 and we will tell you, including if a smaller one would do.
Can you deliver today?
Often, yes, depending on how the day's round is running and where you are. Ring rather than use the form if you need it urgently, and we will tell you straight away what is possible instead of coming back to you later.
What happens to the waste?
It goes to a licensed facility to be sorted, and as much as possible is pulled out for recycling rather than going to landfill. As a registered waste carrier we are legally responsible for where it ends up. If you are a business and need duty of care paperwork for your records, ask when you book and we will provide it.
